Rev. Houston R. Cypress of the Miccosukee Tribe, located in the Everglades, is forging alliances and using art to draw attention to restoration efforts of the region, “the heart of the river of grass.”
He is an artist and a co-founder of Love the Everglades Movement. For his most recent project, Inflection Points Exhibit, he collected water from thirteen sites across the everglades water shed.
“So this place has helped us to survive and now that there’s degradation of the environment -water quality, the animals disappearing and new types of plants coming in, we feel a sense of responsibility to do something.”
