Hasan is a local journalist from the island of Kutubdia who has been reporting on the impacts of rising sea levels and other climate disruptions.

Kutubdia is one of the oldest island of Bangladesh and is located in the Bay of Bengal off the coast of Cox’s Bazar. The fish-shaped island has seen many storms. A cyclone in 1991 killed almost 140,000 and devastated the island, destroying 80 percent of the houses on this 13-mile long fishing island. In 1997 another cyclone hit the island and shelters are desparately needed to prepare for future storms.
