Rev. Houston R. Cypress of the Miccosukee Tribe is forging alliances and using art to draw attention to restoration efforts of the Everglades, “the heart of the river of grass.”
Houston is an artist and a co-founder of Love the Everglades Movement. For his most recent project, Inflection Points, he and his collaborators collected water from thirteen sites across the everglades water shed.
“So this place has helped us to survive and now that there’s degradation of the environment like water quality, the animals disappearing, and new types of plants coming in, we feel a sense of responsibility to step up.”
