The Sagar Island Women’s Collective has 17 members who cultivate organic rice paddy and vegetables and are exploring forms of sustainable tourism.

They have been using a liquid varmi compost that reduces the salinity of the soil and protects the seeds/crops during the monsoon season when the salt water floods the community. Through support and training from the organization NEWS, they are exploring a range of new farming methods.
